Palliative Care

When you are facing a serious illness, you need relief from pain and other symptoms, such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite and shortness of breath, and from stress.
This is what palliative care can do for you. The goal is to enhance comfort and overall quality of life. It is useful at any stage of an illness and can be provided at the same time as all other medical treatments
Palliative care is provided by a team that includes doctors, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and social workers. The team works in partnership with your primary doctor. You can also expect support in dealing with emotional and spiritual distress that can come with illness.

If you want to receive this care, tell your doctor or nurse about your and your family’s needs. Your doctor or nurse will order a consultation from the palliative care team.
